The Vernon Hills Public Works Department will begin live Christmas Tree pick-up and recycling starting January 5 according to the following schedule:
- Monday, January 5 – Areas north of Route 60/Townline Road
- Tuesday, January 6 – Deerpath, Stone Fence, Centennial Crossing, Aspen Point
- Wednesday, January 7 – Plymouth Farms, Westwood, Grosse Pointe/Grosse Pointe Circle, Old Grove Farms, Villas by the Lake
- Thursday, January 8 – Country Club Estates, Hawthorn Club, Sugar Creek, River Grove, Sanctuary Point, Sarah's Glen, Writer Estates, Georgetown Square, Port Clinton Place, The Oaks, Woodland Chase
- Friday, January 9 – Make-up day for bad weather
How to prepare your tree for recycling:
- Please have your live tree at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of your pick-up.
- Remove all lights, ornaments, stands and BAGS from the tree.
- In addition, Waste Management (WM) will pick up trees January 12 through January 16. However, only trees that have all ornaments, ligfhts and bags removed will be recycled. Trees left in a bag will not be recycled and will be sent to the landfill with the regular trash – so please go green and remove the plastic bag.
- After that time, you may bring your tree to the Public Works facility for recycling
