We join in remembering and honoring those military personnel who have given their lives in service to our nation.
Memorial Day is Monday, May 26. On that day, American Legion Vernon Post 1247 will conduct brief, solemn programs at the following locations:
- 9 a.m. – Vernon Township Cemetery, 15215 Cemetery Road, Lincolnshire (northeast of the Milwaukee/Half-Day Road intersection)
- 10 a.m. – Willow Lawn Cemetery, 24090 N. Route 45, Vernon Hills
- 11 a.m. – Arbortheater, 50 S. Fairway Drive, Vernon Hills
The Legion also welcomes volunteers to assist with placing flags at veterans' graves on Saturday, May 24. Volunteers will start at 9 a.m. at Willow Lawn Cemetery, then at approximately 10 a.m. move to Vernon Township Cemetery. Please dress for the weather and bring a screwdriver to assist with making holes in the ground for the flags.
Note that many government offices (including Village offices) and businesses will be closed on Monday, May 26.
