[ARCHIVED] Celebrating Presidents' Day

presidents-day

Monday, February 17, 2925 is Presidents’ Day, a federal holiday designed to honor George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and all other U.S. presidents. The day was first created in 1971 as a combination of the previous holidays marking Lincoln’s birthday (February 12, 1809) and Washington’s birthday (February 11, 1732).

While we now call it Presidents’ Day, the federal government never officially changed the name from Washington’s Birthday. Government offices and other places may be closed on the third Monday in February. Note that Village offices will be open.
