On January 20, 2025, the nation recognizes Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day.
Many organizations will be closed on Monday, January 20 to mark the MLK Day holiday. January 20 is also the 2025 Presidential Inauguration Day. (Note that Village offices are open on January 20.
Proponents of observing the MLK holiday note that it should be used as a day of community service. MLK service activities include the City of Highland Park's 16th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, planned for Monday, February 17.
The College of Lake County will celebrate by offering performances of "The Mountaintop," by Katori Hall. Performances run from February 23 to March 2.
Organizations such as Vernon and Libertyville Township Pantries, Sue's Pantry in Vernon Hills, St. Mary of Vernon outreach services and other partner organizations in our area rely on our generosity.
