In an effort to help clean up from the August 27 storm, the Vernon Hills Public Works Department is moving through impacted neighborhoods collecting fallen branches and storm debris.
Residents are asked to please have materials pulled to the curb by Friday, September 6 at the latest.
The Village has also been alerted to solicitors going door-to-door offering to make repairs. Please note that severe storms often bring out "storm chasers," who come into an area to take advantage of residents.
With all repairs, please do your due diligence. Beware of scammers and less-than-reputable vendors. Check references. Vendors should be licensed, and any work you agree to should be outlined in a written contract. For most work, Village permits are required -- and those permits give you the benefit of an inspection ensuring work is done appropriately.
Further, remember that you never need to open your door or answer your phone for anyone.
Thank you to all who are working to support our neighbors who were hardest hit by the recent storm.
