The Village has received a higher-than-normal volume of complaints regarding garbage tote storage this summer. Village staff has been distributing informational tags to inform residents of the code requirements. Please read our Frequently Asked Questions on garbage/recycling pick up and container storage, which follows below.
Question: I received a green "Let's Talk Trash" tag. Is it a ticket?
Answer: No. The green tag is an informational tag. Village employees from several departments are distributing tags in neighborhoods that have had the most frequent complaints about garbage container storage.
Question: Where can I store my garbage containers during the week?
Answer: Garbage totes must be stored out of the public view. The graphic illustrates some of your options.

Question: When can garbage containers be placed at the curb?
Answer: Garbage totes, recycling containers, and landscape waste may be placed at the curb after 5 p.m. the day before collection. Containers must be retreived and returned to storage by 7 p.m. on your pick-up day.
Question: What day is garbage collection day in my neighborhood?
Answer: Garbage collection is Monday for homes south of Townline Road/Route 60; and Tuesday for homes north of Townline Road/Route 60. If you signed up for an extra pick-up, the extra day is Thursday for homes south of Townline Road, and Friday for homes north of Townline Road.
