Former Village President and long-time Trustee Barbara Williams passed away on July 18, 2024 at her home in North Carolina. Mayor Williams was a staunch advocate for the Village, serving as Village President from 1989 to 1993, and as Trustee from 1981 to 1989, and again from 2001 to 2017.
During her years as Trustee and Mayor, the Village boomed, as new homes, business parks and retail areas sprung up where farm fields once stood. We can all be grateful to Mayor Williams and her colleagues for their efforts to ensure that Vernon Hills grew to become the well-planned Village we all enjoy today.
Barb loved her community, and gave countless hours through not only her formal roles, but even more so as a volunteer, neighbor and friend. She was an advocate for all, and a mentor to so many. Thank you, Barb.
