Due to the major road construction project along Lakeview Parkway, the Village has come up with a plan for safely getting to and from the festival area. Neighbors moving through the area will also want to be aware, as traffic patterns will change during Vernon Hills Days (July 13 through 16).
Check the MAPS posted at the end of this article for routes and closures.
PARKING – HAWTHORN MALL:
- Drivers attending Vernon Hills Days are encouraged to park in the upper parking lot at the northwest side of Hawthorn Mall. Attendees may then walk west along Center Drive to reach the festival area.
DRIVERS – LANE REDUCTION:
- Lakeview Parkway will be reduced to a single northbound lane between Hawthorn Parkway and Center Drive.
- There will be no southbound traffic from Center Drive to Hawthorn Parkway
- Vehicles will be encouraged to detour east on Museum Boulevard to Ring Road.
- Southbound Lakeview Parkway and westbound Center Drive will be controlled by stop signs, yielding to northbound traffic.
WALKERS – CROSS TOWNLINE AT DEERPATH:
- There will be no sidewalk access south of Townline Road at Lakeview Parkway.
- Pedestrians will need to cross Townline Road at Deerpath Drive
ENHANCED SECURITY:
- VHPD will work with partner agencies to provide enhanced security for the duration of Vernon Hills Days.
- Attendees and residents may notice drones, officers in elevated positions and bag checks.
- Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work to maintain a safe, family friendly atmosphere for all to enjoy. And remember – if you see something, say something.
