Military Honors Banner Program

The Village of Vernon Hills partners with American Legion Vernon Post 1247 to recognize Village residents who currently or previously served in the US Armed Forces by creating boulevard banners featuring an image, name, rank, branch of service, and combat deployment information (if applicable). Each year, during the month of January, members of American Legion Vernon Post 1247 and Village staff will work together to create a new class of twenty banners. The banners are displayed within the Village from Memorial Day to Veterans Day.

There will be no cost to applicants (veterans, active service members or their families). Residents and/or their family members are encouraged to submit an application to be included in this program.

A primary criteria to be eligible for this program (revised at the November 19, 2024 Village Board Meeting) is that the current service member or veteran lives/lived or has served the Village of Vernon Hills.
