Is there a way to recognize our troops coming home from overseas?
In November of 2007, the Villages of Vernon Hills and Libertyville started a new initiative to ensure veterans returning home from service overseas are welcomed home and recognized for their honorable duty. The program, named “Operation Welcome Home,” is an extension of the Blue Line For The Front Line effort, in which both towns have supported specific units deployed overseas and helped Veterans in need since 2003. Residents with a service member returning home may register for the program by contacting the Vernon Hills Police Department’s Crime Prevention Unit at (847) 247-4889.
