n Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for Friday and Saturday until 7 PM.

Heat indices will be between 110-118 degrees. The impacts may lead to heat related illnesses. Those without air conditioning, elderly, small children, and pets are susceptible.

Hawthorn Center has volunteered to be the primary cooling center for our area, each day until 9 PM. Hawthorn Center is located at the intersection of RT 60 and RT 21.

Persons needing assistance with transport can call the Countryside Fire District non-emergency number - 847-367-5511. The Vernon Hills Police Department and Countryside Fire Protection District will provide those within our service area transportation to the mall, if needed.

After 9 PM, the Vernon Hills Police Department, located at 740 Lakeview Parkway, will become the secondary cooling center for those in need.

Residents are encouraged to check their neighbors, the elderly, and anyone who may be in need.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left in unattended vehicles under any circumstances.
