March 2: Women’s conference stresses empowerment, healthy living

Practical tips on topics ranging from career success to healthy eating are part of the seventh annual “Empowering the Woman in You,” a free conference from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the College of Lake County. The eighth annual One Earth Film Festival will present nine thought-provoking films in Lake County March 2-10, with two films shown at the College of Lake County's Grayslake Campus. This year's theme, "All In," underscores how everyone can commit to taking decisive action for the planet, from promoting water conservation to fighting climate change. College Theatre presents classic Greek drama ‘Oedipus Rex’
The College of Lake County Theatre Department presents the Greek drama “Oedipus Rex” Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, March 3 at 2 p.m.; and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 7-9 at 7:30 p.m. Additionally, a high-school matinee will take place Friday, March 8 at 10 a.m. Performances are held in the Studio Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on CLC’s Grayslake Campus. March 2: China’s Golden Dragon Acrobats return to James Lumber Center
The Golden Dragon Acrobats, a troupe of China’s most gifted tumblers, contortionists, jugglers, cyclists and gymnasts, will bring their country’s 2,500-year-old tradition of acrobatics back to the College of Lake County after an eight-year absence. College Music department announces seven spring 2019 concerts
College of Lake County musicians will present seven concerts this spring that feature music that appeals to a variety of tastes. From swinging jazz and soothing classical instrumental works to delightful modern choral pieces and inspirational gospel songs, each concert is programmed to include crowd pleasers that also challenge the ensembles’ students and community members. The College of Lake County engineering transfer department will hold information sessions on Thursday, March 7 at 6 p.m. and Monday, April 15 at 7 p.m. for prospective students interested in taking the first two years of a Bachelor of Science in engineering degree at CLC and learning more about transfer agreements with multiple engineering programs. March 9: College hosts Science Olympiad
About 1,000 middle- and high-school science students will gather at the College of Lake County Saturday, March 9 for the Grayslake Regional Science Olympiad Competition. The event runs from 7:40 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m. The competitions will be held at locations throughout CLC’s Grayslake Campus.
