VHHS Backlight Theatre Company Presents...Hello Dolly!

One of the most beloved musicals of all time, Jerry Herman’s energetic Hello, Dolly! is a musical filled with charisma and with heart. Dolly Levi is a widow, a matchmaker, and also a professional meddler --but everything changes when she decides that the next match she needs to make is to find someone for herself. Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Hello, Dolly! is boisterous and charming from start to finish. Featuring such memorable songs as “Before the Parade Passes By,” “It Only Takes a Moment,” “Put on Your Sunday Clothes,” and “Hello, Dolly!” this musical will appeal to all ages.
VHHS will bring this classic musical to life with over 90 students involved in cast, crew, and orchestra in this production. Backlight Theatre Company is honored to present our version of this fabulous and timeless musical.
Tickets are $4 for students and $5 for adults and go on sale online to the general public in mid-October at https://goo.gl/AT2rDp. Performances are Friday, October 26th, Saturday, October 27th, Friday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 3rd at 7:00 p.m.

Vernon Hills American Legion Post 1247 will be hosting BINGO at the Vernon Hills Golf Course, 291 Evergreen Drive on the first Thursday of the month. The next event will be Thursday November 1st beginning at 6PM.  Proceeds go to support programs sponsored by the Post, such as the Wounded Warrior Project among others. A cash bar along with food is available from the Vernon Hills Golf Course Grill.


Sign Up for Blackboard Connect Emergency 911 Call System

The Village of Vernon Hills uses a number our resources to keep people informed. Blackboard Connect is the Village’s reverse 911 emergency phone system used to notify people of extremely time-bound or urgent information — for instance an emergency road closure or a neighborhood utility problem.
 
Published telephone landlines are automatically included in the Blackboard Connect database. However if you do not have a published landline, your are urged to enroll any appropriate cellphone numbers for your household. Sign up by going to the Blackboard Connect webpage (https://vernonhills.bbcportal.com/Entry) and creating an account using your email address. A physical address is also required, which allows messages to be routed to specific neighborhoods.

VHHS Band Festival

The 18th Annual VHHS Band Festival with the Hawthorn Middle Schools is on Thursday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the VHHS main gym. This year's festival features guest director Dr. Erica Neidlinger from DePaul University. Pieces performed in the concert include Majestia, Illumination, and Symphonic Dance #3 "Fiesta" and the concert concludes with over 350 high school and middle school students performing Kentucky 1800 and The Great Locomotive Chase together.

Annual VHHS Choir Fall Concert

Thursday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the VHHS Auditorium
 On Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the VHHS Auditorium, the Choirs will present their annual Fall Concert. The performance will feature a wide range of cultures and languages, from the Venezuelan "gaita" La Paloma, to the Greek folksong Samiotissa, to an excellent arrangement of the well-known Israeli tune Zum Gali, to a rousing male choir Italian song called Viva Tutti. All choir students will combine to sing a German, Renaissance tune, entitled Ich Will Den Hernn Loben Allezeit. Tickets are $3.00/$2.00 at the door.
