Board approves nominees for outstanding faculty, other awards
The Board of Trustees recently approved the selection of CLC nominees for outstanding faculty, alumni and student awards for the Illinois Community College Trustee Association(ICCTA). Students nominated Jeff Varblow, accounting professor, for the college’s ICCTA Outstanding Full-time Faculty Member award and Teal Mercaeant, sociology professor, for the Outstanding Part-time Faculty Member award. For details, visit https://tinyurl.com/yd5q2gra.

UW-Milwaukee joins Guaranteed Transfer Admission program
The College of Lake County and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee recently signed a Guaranteed Transfer Admission agreement. CLC students who transfer to UW-Milwaukee to complete a bachelor’s degree will be guaranteed acceptance while completing the requirements in their particular degree. April 27-28: CLC presents 20th Annual Fear No Art festival
Dance, music, poetry and art collide at the 20th Annual Fear No Art festival presented by the College of Lake County April 27 at 7:30 p.m. and April 28 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.
Fear No Art will include original choreography by CLC dance students, set to music composed by artists such as Lauren Daigle, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Whitney Woerz and Led Zeppelin. Netflix series gives sociology instructors a world-wide audience
“The Toys that Made Us,” a new Netflix series that premiered in December, is helping give John Tenuto, a College of Lake County sociology instructor, world-wide recognition as an expert on the history of “Star Trek” and “Star Wars” and their collectible toys. Tenuto appeared in a “Star Wars” themed episode of the series in December. Interviews filmed last March with Tenuto and his wife and fellow CLC sociology instructor, Maria Jose Tenuto, will be featured in an episode about “Star Trek” collectibles airing later this spring. Collins named to First Team NJCAA All-American men's basketball team
Catoni Collins, a College of Lake County men’s freshman basketball player from Waukegan, was named a First Team NJCAA All-American. Collins is the only CLC player to receive First Team All-American honors and one of four total All-Americans in CLC men’s basketball history. Chronicle newspaper brings home 18 awards at statewide contest
          The Chronicle, the student-run newspaper at the College of Lake County, recently won 18 awards, including four first places, in statewide competition among community college newspapers.
