The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

The Midwest has seen in increase in the population of the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug within the past several years; including the Village itself.  However, at this time, there is no cause for the Village to invest in an abatement plan to minimize their presence since they cause no harm to people, pets, or dwellings; nor are they known to transmit diseases.  Additionally, treating for them with pesticides would at the same time decrease the population of those species of insects that are beneficial for the environment.

Therefore, if residents are finding them to be a nuisance on their property, we would recommend that you refer to the informational handout linked below on how to prevent them from entering your home.
