Halloween Guidelines for Vernon Hills

During the October 6th Village Board Meeting, Trustees approved guidelines for safe Trick-or-Treating this Halloween in Vernon Hills.
Halloween this year falls on a Saturday --  October, 31!!!   Trick-or-Treating in the Village will be designated between the hours of 2:00 – 6:00 PM.  All persons participating in Trick-or-Treat activities should wear face coverings.   Persons handing out candy should wear face coverings and gloves.  Recommendations include setting up a table outside, with individual offerings easily accessible, and all candy individually wrapped and pre-packaged.
Those Trick-or-Treating are recommended to follow CDC guidelines which include social distancing, mask wear, and not congregating in large groups.
Additional suggestions include residents who desire to participate have their home decorated with seasonal items, lights on, and/or signage that clearly indicates Trick-or-Treaters are welcome.   For residents desiring to not participate, it is suggested a sign be placed indicating your preference.

Village staff have created signs that indicate if Trick-or-Treaters are welcome and signs thanking persons for respecting the choice to not participate.  These signs can be accessed at the links below and printed at home, or pre-printed and available for pick-up at the Village Hall.

NO.  We are not participating

Additional safety guidelines include parental escorts for children, reflective items on costumes, and exercising caution if crossing streets.
On behalf of the Village President, Board of Trustees, and all staff at the Police Department, Public Works, and Village Hall – we wish everyone a safe and Happy Halloween!
