The Village has a contract with Advanced Disposal, Inc. for residential waste services. Due to an oversight on the part of Advanced Disposal, the rate increase that was supposed to go into effect on December 1, 2019 was not implemented. Advanced Disposal has agreed to not collect the 2019 rate increase from the community, that they have not invoiced for the past 10 months.
What does this mean for residents? Residents served by the Advanced contract will realize a savings from the 2020 service year (average saving per residential unit is $2.70), from the rate increase that should have went into effect on December 1, 2019. The 2020 fee schedule will be corrected effective October 1, 2020 and remain in place for the remainder of the 2020 rate structure (which is two months). Effective December 1, 2020 and per the terms of the contract, the new rate takes effect.
To get residents on the contractually agreed upon rate schedule:
Staff from Advanced apologizes for the confusion, and as a gesture of good-faith, Advanced Disposal, Inc. will not seek collection of the lost rate increases, which Village-wide is estimated to be over $20,000. (.27 cents per month average x 10 months not invoiced x est. 7,500 residential units served in Vernon Hills = $20,250).
Below in an example of the 2019 to 2020 increase that should have occurred on December 1, 2019:
Residents with a 96 gallon cart
Trash from $14.26 to $14.46
Recycling from $4.17 to $4.25
Total increase .28 cents per month
Residents with a 65 gallon cart
Trash from $13.42 to $13.60
Total increase .26 cents per month
