Congratulations and Good-Bye Officer Jon Paret

On Tuesday, March 19, after 28 years with the Vernon Hills Police Department (and before that, 4 years with the Lindenhurst PD), we officially said good-bye to Officer Jon Paret.

During his great run with the VHPD Jon served as the Department’s first K9 Officer, with his partners Ritchie and Marco.  Jon also functioned as a Field Training Officer, Officer-In-Charge, Bike Unit member and most recently as the School Resource Officer for Hawthorn School District #73.  Jon received 3 Department Lifesaving medals and 8 enforcement awards from the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists.

Jon now begins a new chapter in his life as a member of the College of Lake County Police Department. Their gain. Our loss.

Congratulations Jon on a wonderful career with the VHPD! Your service to the community was exemplary. We wish you nothing but the best.
