Wednesday, September 19 was a big day for the Vernon Hills Police Department as we welcomed our newest police officer and celebrated the promotions of two others.
First, we'd like to welcome Officer William Ershen to the Department. Having grown up in Palatine and having attended Palatine High School, Officer Ershen is no stranger to the area. In 2010 he graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations. On September 30 he begins his 14-week academy training at the Macon County (IL) Law Enforcement Training Center. Welcome to the VHPD Officer Ershen!
Also, please join us in congratulating Shannon Holubetz and Mike Katzenstein on their promotions to Commander and Sergeant, respectively.
Commander Holubetz has been with the Vernon Hills Police Department since 2005 and had been a Sergeant since 2015. Sergeant Katzenstein is a 22-year veteran of the VHPD. Currently, Commander Holubetz and Sgt. Katzenstein are working side-by-side as supervisors on one of the day shift teams.
Congratulations to all three of these outstanding individuals on your new roles with the Vernon Hills Police Department!!
