Community Service Officer
DUTIES:
Work involves responsibility for a variety of quasi law enforcement and general support activities for the Police Department, including responsibility for the enforcement of Village ordinances and State Laws in designated areas such as nuisance and animal control, signage, vehicle and parking regulations, the investigation of minor traffic accidents, as well as general public service. Work includes the responsibility of a variety of clerical and communications work, as well as provide relief for Telecommunicators working in a 9-1-1 center. Considerable public contact, sometimes under difficult circumstances. Day to day work assignments are performed with considerable independence and much of the work is self-initiated. Work is performed under the general supervision of a police sergeant or communications supervisor.REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduation from high school or GED
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to operate motor vehicles reasonably and safely under routine and emergency conditions, sometimes for lengthy periods of time
- Ability to observe analytically and objectively, analyze situations quickly, determine and take prompt, effective action
- Accurate typing ability; familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel programs
- Passage of a pre-employment physical examination and drug test (at the Village's expense)
- Successful completion of a twelve-month probationary period
SALARY:
(Effective 5/1/15)The salary range for the position is $48,631 - $65,798, with excellent benefits.
