Free landscape mulch is available to Vernon Hills residents at the Public Works Facility located at 490 Greenleaf Drive at the corner of Greenleaf Dr. and Butterfield Rd. This material is generated from tree trimmings, tree removals, and Holiday Tree recycling. This is a help yourself service; therefore, residents are required to bring their own shovel and container. No appointment necessary; accessible anytime day or night.

Benefits of Mulch

Mulch is very beneficial in many ways. It is used for appearance, weed control, water conservation, erosion control, and improves soil structure. Mulch should be applied about 3-4" thick and pulled back away from the bark of trees and shrubs.
