RESOLUTION 2003-98

 

 

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A POLICY REQUIRING GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS TO REIMBURSE THE VILLAGE FOR SPECIAL POLICE SERVICES.

 

            WHEREAS, the Vernon Hills Police Department takes great pride in the quality and variety of services provided to the residents of our community; and

 

            WHEREAS, one of the most requested services provided by the police department is for special police services IE; traffic direction, special protections, etc.; and

 

            WHEREAS, the number of requests for special police services have increased to the point that off-duty police officers must be hired-back on overtime to meet the needs of the community;

 

            NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF VERNON HILLS, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

 

            That the Village Manager is authorized to implement a policy requiring groups and organizations requesting special police services to reimburse the Village for those services, at a rate to be established by the Manager and approved by the Board.

At the Village Board Meeting on April 15, 2003, the Board approved a motion authorizing the Village Manager to implement a policy that required groups and organizations requesting special police services to reimburse the Village at a rate that approximated the police officer’s overtime rate.  This resolution formalizes that motion.
