RESOLUTION 2003 - 168

RECOGNITION OF COUNTRYSIDE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

AS AN ACCREDITED AGENCY BY

THE COMMISSION ON FIRE ACCREDITATION INTERNATIONAL

 

                WHEREAS, the Commission on Fire Accreditation International is a non-profit, organization established in 1996 by the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the International City/County Managers’ Association; and

 

                WHEREAS, the Commission on Fire Accreditation International is dedicated to the quality improvement of fire and emergency service agencies throughout the world through self-assessment; and

 

                WHEREAS, the Commission on Fire Accreditation International has itself been recognized by the American Society of Association Executives winning the 1995 Association’s Advance America Award of Excellence; and

 

                WHEREAS, the Countryside Fire Protection District was established in 1939; and

 

                WHEREAS, the Countryside Fire Protection District provides fire, rescue and emergency medical service to portions of Ela, Fremont, Libertyville and Vernon Townships in Lake County, and to areas within the Villages of Hawthorn Woods, Indian Creek, Long Grove and Vernon Hills in Lake County, and to portions of unincorporated area in Lake County; and

 

                WHEREAS, the Countryside Fire Protection District is led by Fire Chief James D. Spiegel, CFO and supported by the officers, firemedics and staff of the Countryside Fire Protection District; and

 

                WHEREAS, the Countryside Fire Protection District was the first Fire Protection District in the United States to be recognized as an ACCREDITED AGENCY by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International in 1998; and

 

                WHEREAS, the Countryside Fire Protection District is the first Fire Protection District to be re-accredited and recognized as an ACCREDITED AGENCY by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International in 2003.

 

                NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Village Board of the Village of Vernon Hills that we do in unison, recognize and proclaim the achievement of ACCREDITED AGENCY status by the Countryside Fire Protection District and its;
