RESOLUTION 2003-157

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROVAL OF FORCE ACCOUNT WORK TO CONSTRUCT A PORTION OF THE HOLIDAY LIGHT SHOW ROUTE ON THE CUNEO FOUNDATION GROUNDS; WAIVE THE BIDDING PROCESS AND AUTHORIZE PAYMENT TO BERGER EXCAVATING IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $15,000.

WHEREAS, a plan dated March 26, 2003 was presented to the Committee of the Whole on July 1, 2003 for the Holiday Light Show Route; and

WHEREAS, on September 16, 2003 the Village board approved an agreement with the Cuneo Museum Foundation and included provisions for construction of the Holiday Light Show Road; and

WHEREAS, the cost to construct portions of the Holiday Light Show is estimated not to exceed $20,000 and funds are available in account 1601009-530990; and

WHEREAS, the Cuneo Foundation has agreed to fund one half of the road construction and to make annually reimburse the Village $1,000 or 5% over the next ten years; and

WHEREAS, Berger Excavating is now completing improvements to Milwaukee Avenue in front of the Cuneo Museum; and

WHEREAS, it is requested to use Berger Excavating to complete the excavation and roadway base installation of the Holiday Light Show road; and

WHEREAS, all purchase orders over $10,000 require Board of Trustee approval;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF VERNON HILLS, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

THAT, the Village Board waives the competitive bid process and authorizes the issuance of a purchase order to Berger Excavating not to exceed $15,000 for force account work at the rates provided on September 25, 2003.
