RESOLUTION 2003 155
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE
APPROVAL OF RESIDENTIAL COLLECTORS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING STOP SIGN
WARRANT CRITERIA IN THE VILLAGE.
WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administrator has
approved and issued the 2000 Millennium Edition of the Manual on Uniform
Traffic control Devices (MUTCD) and the State of Illinois has adopted the
official manual in January 2002; and
WHEREAS, Stop Sign Warrants may now use optional criteria with traffic
volumes and accident data in an engineering study one of which includes the intersection of two residential
neighborhood collector (through) streets of similar design and operating
characteristics where multiway stop control would improve traffic operation
characteristics of the intersection; and
WHEREAS, MUTCD Collector Definition is: In urban areas
provides land access and traffic circulation within residential areas and
connects to local highways; and
WHEREAS, the Traffic Advisory Committee and the
Committee of the Whole have reviewed and approved the streets listed below.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF VERNON HILLS, LAKE COUNTY,
ILLINOIS:
THAT, THE FOLLOWING STREETS ARE DESIGNATED RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD COLLECTORS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING STOP SIGN WARRANT CRITERIA.
