ORDINANCE NUMBER 2003-75 

 

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A CLASS III DESIGNATED TRUCK ROUTE

 

Whereas, the State of Illinois, by its General Assembly has enacted the “ The Illinois Vehicle Code”; and

 

Whereas, Chapter 625, Section 15-111 of the Illinois Compiled Statutes provides that local authorities, with respect to highways under their jurisdiction may, by ordinance, increase the maximum allowable weight of vehicles on designated streets, in accordance with Subsection (f-1) of said Section 15-111, which weight limitation shall be designated by appropriate signs placed on such streets; and

 

Whereas, the Village of Vernon Hills is desirous of providing a truck route for the purpose of accommodating a load limit of 80,000 pounds.

 

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF VERNON HILLS, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:

 

SECTION I. DESIGNATION OF STREETS.   

That portions of the following streets are designated as Class III  Truck Route:

SECTION II.  POSTING SIGNS.  Appropriate signs shall be posted upon all roads, highways, or streets under the jurisdiction of the Village as specified in this Ordinance.

 

SECTION III.  PENALTY.  Any person who shall violate any of the provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of an offense hereunder and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by fine for each such violation.

 

SECTION IV. SEVERABILITY.  In the event that any section, clause, provision, or part of this ordinance shall be found and determined to be invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, all valid parts that are severable from the invalid parts shall remain in full force and effect.  If any part of this ordinance is found to be invalid in any one or more it’s several applications, all application that are severable from the invalid applications shall remain in effect.

 

SECTION V. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed; provided, however, that noting herein contained shall affect any rights, actions, or causes of action which shall have accrued to the Village of Vernon Hills prior to the effective date of this ordinance.

 

SECTION VI.  EFFECITVE DATE.  This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication as provided by law.

 

SECTION VII.  PUBLICATION.  This ordinance shall be published in pamphlet form in the manner provided by law.

 

SECTION VIII.  ORDINANCE NUMBER.  This ordinance shall be known as Ordinance Number 2003-75.
