'Run From The Cops' 5K - 2010 Recap

July 18, 2010 - The day started out just like any other - except at 8:30 in the morning, over 440 people were getting ready to run a three-mile stretch of Vernon Hills in order to benefit the Sentinels of Freedom instead of reading their Sunday paper.

Our third annual 'Run From The Cops' 5K exceeded all our goals as far as pariticipation and money raised. With over $12,000 raised and over 100 more participants, it’s safe to say this event will be back next year and beyond!

The ages ranged from as young as 8 and as old as 76; all gathered to participate in a race that extended way beyond the 3.05 miles of pavement in the Gregg’s Landing subdivision. As honorary Race Marshalls from the Sentinels of Freedom were introduced, the crowd cheered loud and proud in support for our Armed Forces overseas.

In a little over 16-minutes (16:27:06 to be exact), Mundelein's Martin Menn (17-years old) crossed the finish line and was the overall winner of this event. 17-year old Kelley Gallagher (Mundelein) was the female overall winner with a time of 20 minutes, 14 seconds. Congratulations to Martin and Kelley and thanks to everyone else who came out to support the cause, enjoy the day, and help make this event a smashing success!
