The Department's Open House originally took place in October. Then, in 2007, we decided to change it to May in order to coincide with National Police Week. Our last Open House was held on Sunday, May 16, 2010. Some of the festivities included a display from N.I.P.A.S., the police Explorer Scouts, the Citizen's Police Academy, as well as button-making and photos in our cutout. Also available was a complete Child Identification Kit provided by the Illinois Mason's ChIP Program. The Treasurer's Office was on hand to help people Dash for Cash. Naturally, all guests were treated to a close-up look at a squad car and our holding area. What we found, however, was that people are extremely busy at this time of year, what with the beautiful weather and many sporting events, both professional and personal. So we have decided to move the Open House back to October. It will coincide with the Countryside Fire Protection District's Open House so that people can view both stations in one day. The date of the next Open House has not been determined. Stay tuned to see what exciting events we will schedule!
