Can I obtain a handicapped parking placard at the police department?
Yes, you can. The Vernon Hills Police Department (as well as the village hall) are available to process applications for Temporary (90 days or less) Handicapped Parking Placards. Application forms are available at both locations and must be completed by both the physician and the applicant. For convenience, applications are also available online via the Illinois Secretary of State's web site. For further information regarding this service, you may contact the police department either by calling (847) 362-4449 or via e-mail. You can also contact the village clerk's office at (847) 367-3700 between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm.
Please Note: The Vernon Hills Police Department will only accept these applications from residents of Vernon Hills. Additionally, illegally parking in a handicapped spot will cost you $250 Statewide in Illinois.
