If you want to file a report for a crime that has already occurred or for insurance purposes, call the non-emergency number and explain the situation to the telecommunicator. The non-emergency number is (847) 362-4449. If you are in Vernon Hills, an officer will be sent to talk to you. You can also come into the police station at 754 Lakeview Parkway to make a report in person, 24 hours a day. Generally speaking, reports are not made over the telephone.
