Curfew Hours And Ages

What are the hours and ages for curfew in Vernon Hills?
Are the hours different during the summer?

The curfew hours for the summer are the same as for the rest of the year. Basically, it is unlawful for a person less than 17 years of age to be out in public unless accompanied and supervised by a parent, legal guardian or other responsible companion at least 18 years of age approved by a parent or legal guardian:

  • after 12:01 AM Saturday (for Friday night),
  • after 12:01 AM Sunday (for Saturday night),
  • after 11:00 PM Sunday through Thursday.
  • Curfew hours remain in effect until 6:00 AM

In addition, parents and teens alike should keep in mind that a minor's driver's license is invalid during curfew. In other words, if you are violating curfew, you do not have a driver's license. Please Note: Effective Janaury 1, 2008, licensed drivers age 16 and 17 cannot drive past 10 pm from Sunday to Thursday and past 11 pm Friday and Saturday.  For more information regarding teen driving laws, click here.

There are other important sections to the village curfew ordinance. For further information, contact the Crime Prevention Unit at (847) 247-4889 or via e-mail.
