The Police Department has a separate extension that residents can use to call the Traffic Unit directly to express any concern or complaint or to ask any question that they have regarding any traffic matter that does not require immediate police action. This extension can also be used by anyone who would like to request the department's S.M.A.R.T. radar traffic trailer. If a traffic officer is not available, the caller can leave a message and an officer will return the call as soon as possible.

Non-emergency matters that require immediate police action should still be called into the main non-emergency number - (847) 362-4449 and the situation should be explained to the telecommunicator. Emergencies, of course, should be called in to 9-1-1. The purpose of this specific traffic-related extension is to provide residents with a direct means of communication with the Department's Traffic Unit. The number to call is still (847) 362-4449, but the caller need to only ask for extension 4832 or the Traffic Unit.
