Police Explorer Scouts

The Vernon Hills Law Enforcement Explorer Post 2920 provides the youth of the community an opportunity to interact with the members of the Police Department. The goal of the interaction is to create a positive relationship between the Police Department and program participants. The Post is a valuable tool in merging the law enforcement community to the youth who display an interest in the profession.

Members of the Explorer Post meet once a week and receive training in the various functions of law enforcement. The education that an Explorer receives provides valuable insight into the daily operations of a law enforcement agency. Members also participate in state and national Explorer Scout competitions.

Explorers are called upon to demonstrate their knowledge and skills by participating in law enforcement-related activities including: traffic direction, crowd control and crime prevention functions.

New members, ages 14 to 20, are always welcome. Interested in joining? Would you like to know more? Either call the Police Department at (847) 362-4449 and leave a message for an Explorer Coordinator or send an email to the Explorer Post.
