Expo 2013 is set for September 14 and 15.
Recap of the 2012 Event: 24 police and police-related agencies were on hand at Westfield Hawthorn Mall (Routes 21 and 60 in Vernon Hills) on the weekend of September 8-9, 2012 for the 8th Annual Law Enforcement Exhibition - our biggest year yet!. Squad cars,police motorcycles, a Humvee, K9s and a 6-wheel ATV are just some of the police equipment that were seen. There were many activities for the kids and plenty of giveaways and information! We also had a police helicopter land on-site on Sunday. The Freemasons helped parents create free child ID kits for their children, containing photos, videos, fingerprints and DNA samples. They completed at least 150 kits!
The K9 demonstrations were led by Tops Training (the official police K9 training facility in Grayslake) and were performed by Ofc. Baron and Saxon from Buffalo Grove PD, Supv. Andy Shiu and Dunkin from MEG/Lake Forest PD and Sgt. John Combs and the famous Maxx of the Wauconda PD.
The helicopter was provided by the Law Enforcement Aviation Coalition (LEAC), led by Chief Brumlik of Winthrop Harbor.

History of the Expo
In 2005, we hosted the inaugural Exhibition here in Vernon Hills. The event drew thousands of interested citizens locally and from all around the Chicagoland area. Due to its overwhelming success, Chief Mark Fleischhauer decided to make it an annual event. Furthermore, the event will always be scheduled for the weekend closest to September 11th, in order to honor our fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice on that day in 2001.
This Exhibition was set up so police departments can show you the latest and greatest in crime prevention, education and criminal detection. Think of it as one big "open house" where Lake County agencies are present to show you the ins and outs of what the police can do for you - besides writing you a ticket!
