July 28, 2010 - The Vernon Hills Police Department is almost done preparing for our 15th annual National Night Out. It’s also the 7th year of the Volleyball Tournament, which has traditionally been dominated by the VHPD.
On Tuesday, August 3rd, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, citizens of all ages are invited to enjoy a variety of free family-friendly activities. The event will be held at
Hartmann
Park, 292 Oakwood Road, south of Route 45.
This year we have: an interactive DJ from A-Z Entertainment to entertain everyone with their great music and fun games; three inflatables from RAH (Record-A-Hit) for bouncing fun for all ages; a craft table with free craft projects; carnival-type games for everyone to play; the Volleyball Tournament; free food and much more!
Although official volleyball records have never been kept, the VHPD, with its two teams, has rarely lost a game. This year we’re hoping to get one or two teams of Vernon Hills residents to play against us, but time is running short to sign up. If you’re interested in playing against us, please contact Ofc. Sharon Joseph at sjoseph@vhills.org or 847-247-4889. Here is the current schedule for the tournament:
4:00 VHPD vs. Countryside Fire Protection District and a local youth group
5:00 VHPD vs. District 73 Teachers
6:00 VHPD vs. Target
We are looking for two more teams to play (at 5:00 and 6:00). Or just come out to cheer on your favorite team! Or just to have fun!
We could not have put this event together without the support of our national sponsor, Target. This year, we not only have help from our own Vernon Hills Super Target, but from the
Mundelein store as well. Additional thanks go out to A-Z Entertainment, American Hotel Register, RAH, Peartree Catering, the Vernon Hills Park District, Sam;s Club and the Countryside Fire Protection District.
