VHHS Joins Operation Click!

November 19, 2009 - In an effort to promote safe driving by our community’s teens, Officer Jim Koch, the School Resource Officer (SRO), recently introduced Operation Click! at Vernon Hills High School.  Since 1998, Operation Click! has been urging high school age drivers to buckle up their seat belts in order to save lives.  Operation Click! encourages teens to wear their seatbelts and drive sober through positive reinforcement and prize giveaways.  To be eligible to win prizes – including a new car – students must adhere to a signed contract which states that they will wear their seat belts at all times, they will not drink and drive, they will not ride in a car with a driver who has consumed alcohol and they will not be convicted of any traffic related violation.  Students who breach the contract are not eligible to win prizes.  Throughout the year, random seatbelt checks are performed by student volunteers.  Officer Koch is excited about the amount of student interest in the program and their dedication to safe driving.
