Toys for Tots 2011

October 25, 2011 - It’s never too early to think about Christmas – and about all the children who might not get any toys.

Beginning November 1, the Vernon Hills Police Department will once again be a drop-off location for the US Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program.  Last year, we had an overwhelming response and we’d like to repeat that again this year – or beat it!

Kids of all ages are encouraged to help other kids who don’t have as much.  Some kids have donated their birthday and holiday money to Toys for Tots, while others have asked for toys that can be given to Toys for Tots instead of keeping them for themselves.  Last year, we had a Daisy troop drop off toys when they came in for a station tour.  There are so many ways to help out!

We are encouraging everyone to bring a new/unwrapped toy to any of our drop-off locations:

Vernon Hills Police Department – 754 Lakeview Parkway (24 hours a day)

Vernon Hills Village Hall – 290 Evergreen Drive (Monday-Friday, 8:30 am - 5 pm)

Vernon Hills Public Works – 490 Greenleaf Drive  (Monday-Friday, 7 am – 3:30 pm)

Toys will be collected until December 18th.  Anyone with questions should call (847) 247-4889.  And if anyone has a special story about how they collected toys for Toys for Tots, let me know!
