June 4, 2007 - Last week, the kids at Hawthorn District 73 schools were all witnesses of a once-in-a-lifetime event: Spiderman came to town! Spidey crept into the gymnasiums and wowed crowds of kids with his own unique brand of safety message.
Children were able to see the Webslinger up close and personal and also left with a better "Spidey Sense" of their own. Spiderman addressed over 2,000 kids in all about such topics as Stranger Danger, Summertime Safety, Internet Safety, and Personal Safety. It was a very enlightening presentation and the kids are definitely prepared to face their own Green Goblins. Of course, prevention is the key, so the Webcrawler would rather see children remain safe than to really face a nemesis.
We'd like to thank Sam's Club and the Community Alliance Project (CAP) for their donations in order to make these Officer Friendly presentations possible. And of course, the Webhead himself, Spiderman, for his enthusiastic show that we're sure the kids won't forget any time soon!
