April 25, 2007 - Today members of Sam's Club presented the VHPD with a check for $1375 to help bolster our D.A.R.E. Program as a part of their Neighborhood Hero grant.
The money will be used to provide several internet safety presentations to elementary students in grades K-5. The presentations will be conducted by a special guest: Spider-man. He will appear in Vernon Hills in late May to address the children in a fun, interactive, and innovative way in order to get across the importance of surfing the web safely. Spidey will also talk to the children about other important safety tips as well. Check back soon for pictures of this very unique opportunity!

Pictured on the right is Sgt. Mark Parrish from the Mundelein Police Department, who was also in attendance. Sgt. Parrish was happy to be in Vernon Hills as the MPD additionally received a grant check for the amount of $1,000.
Many thanks to everyone at Sam's Club for their continued generosity and overwhelming support of youth prevention programs, both in Vernon Hills and throughout the country!
