February 27, 2011 - This year the VHPD 'Frozen Copsicles' decided to ban together and show support for one of their own by decking themselves out in pink Breast Cancer Awareness accents. It was a nice touch to a warm up the 35 degree day ... which may seem warm in comparasion to years past, but believe them, it was still COLD in the water!
In all, nine Department members (including a son and a daughter) hit the Fox Lake in order to raise money for the Special Olympics of Illinois. This year we were able to raise $3,118.95 for the cause.
Great job to Shannon Holubetz, Mike Katzenstein, Andy Jones (with daughter Jordan), Jim Levicki (with son Jake), Tad Spencer, Bill Price, and newcomer Pat Zimmerman for braving the cold and raising some much-needed money for this worthwhile charity.
