March 25, 2009 - Officer Ken Maier was awarded a Life Saving medal from the Libertyville Police Department as a result of his response and actions during a structure fire in a multi-story apartment building in Libertyville on January 6, 2009.  Officer Maier responded to a call for assistance from Libertyville and assisted in the evacuation of the building.  He entered the burning, smoke-filled building and assisted a number of residents during the incident.

Officer Maier is a 15-year veteran of the Vernon Hills Police Department.  This is the third Life Saving award he has received during his career.
