Welcome Officer Ulises Hernandez
On Wednesday, September 21, the members of the Vernon Hills Police Department welcomed their newest coworker - Officer Ulises Hernandez. In front of family, friends, Police Department members and Village employees, Officer Hernandez took the oath of office from Village Manager/Clerk John Kalmar.

Officer Hernandez grew up in the northwest side of Chicago and received a degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern Illinois University. Before joining the ranks of VHPD, he was a Community Policing Assistant with the Highland Park Police Department for four years.

On Monday, September 26 Officer Hernandez begins 16 weeks of training at the Police Training Institute (PTI) at the University of Illinois, after which he will begin many months of field training.
