What do those 10 Codes mean?

"10-Codes" can be confusing to listen to on your scanner, but they help make our radio transmissions short and uniform. Although they may be modified for different agencies, the following codes are used in some way by most Illinois police departments - including the VHPD:

10-0    Caution
10-1    Unable to copy - change location
10-2    Signal good

10-3    Stop transmitting
10-4    Acknowledgement (OK)
10-5    Relay
