Those persons convicted of certain sex offenses are required by Illinois law to register as a sex offender in the town in which they reside. If a registered sex offender moves or gets a new job, they have three (3) days to notify their local police department of their new home or business address.

The Vernon Hills Police Department conducts annual home visits for each person registered. Certain registered sex offenders are further required to re-register quarterly, based on the offense and age of the victim. In addition, current vehicle information (including a picture) is kept on file for each sex offender.

Please Note: Sex offenders must register by appointment only - walk-ins will not be accepted. If you need to register, please call 847-247-8460 during normal business hours and you will be referred to an Investigator.
