Recruitment - Community Service Officer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The position of Community Service Officer involves responsibility for a variety of quasi-law enforcement and general support activities for the Police Department. Work involves enforcement of Village ordinances and State laws in designated areas such as nuisance, animal control, signage, vehicle and parking regulations, investigation of minor traffic accidents, as well as general public service.

Work also includes a variety of clerical and communications work, in addition to considerable public contact, often under difficult circumstances. Day-to-day work assignments are performed with considerable independence and much of the work is self-initiated. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Police Sergeant.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles responsibly and safely under routine and emergency conditions for lengthy periods of time (if necessary). 
  • Ability to observe analytically and objectively, analyze situations quickly and take prompt,  effective action as needed.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug test.
  • Must complete a 12-month probationary period.
EDUCATION
 
High school diploma or equivalent.
 
SALARY & BENEFITS

New Hire: $41,411
After 6 Years: $56,029
