Scanner Radio Frequencies

The Vernon Hills Police Department shares a main radio frequency with the Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Mundelein, and Riverwoods Police Departments. The frequency is 470.8625. If your scanner has PL capabilities, the PL is 97.4.

When listening to it, it would help you to know which series of radio call numbers are from what community:

  • 100 series - Libertyville P.D.
  • 600 series - Lincolnshire P.D.
  • 700 series - Riverwoods P.D.
  • 2000 series - Mundelein P.D.
  • 9000 series - Vernon Hills P.D. (Occasionally, you may hear us use a 3-digit number that also starts with a 9.)

Here's a couple more frequencies you might like to know:

  • Countryside Fire Protection District - 154.430
  • ISPERN (Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network) - 155.475

ISPERN is a frequency that is in almost every police vehicle. It is used to broadcast serious crimes that have "just occurred," vehicle pursuits, and other emergency police radio traffic. It is a statewide frequency, so you might hear squads from far away communities.

While we're talking about police radios, ever wonder what those "10-Codes" mean? Click here.
