The Crime Prevention Unit is comprised of one sworn officer who has received certified training in crime prevention techniques and methodology. This officer is responsible for the coordination and implementation of numerous crime prevention/community relations programs, including the Officer Friendly program, the Citizens' Police Academy, and "Cop Topics" (our cable television show). This officer also prepares press releases and newsletters, conducts station tours, conducts presentations to community and business groups, performs security surveys and coordinates many additional community-relations programs. The Crime Prevention Unit maintains information and resource material on most crime, personal safety and traffic safety topics. The Crime Prevention Unit routinely responds to citizen inquiries and concerns.
